ISSEY MIYAKE eyewear

 

This first optical and sunglasses collection of ISSEY MIYAKE.  The eyewear collection is characterized by its simple yet radical, sharp, elegant and modern design.

An important research has been made to create an original and innovative hinge, signature of ISSEY MIYAKE eyewear, that has been made possible by the use of high technology.

The design concept of the eyewear collection is “STREAM”. It is the flow of ideas that starts from our volition to see things. The flow leads to the visual stimulation, the memory and visual perception we have of the world.  This flow also nourishes our lives, influences our decisions, determines our acts and feeds our imaginations. We are at the center of this flow, and interact with this dynamic movement.

The “STREAM” concept determines the design, especially that of the temples. The “STREAM” temple designs suggest the invisible interaction between our volition and imaginations, reflecting the interpretation of the strength of channelled airflow, the profile of a plane wing,, the fluidity of a curve or the aspiration of a vault.

The careful attention for lightness and aesthetic simplicity can be found in the way different materials are worked out : milled acetate is designed to accentuate the sensation of fluidity: stainless steel and milled acetate with the reversed tip end shape visually lengthen the silhouette of the side.

This new collection of sunglasses and ophthalmic frames is still inspired by the « stream » concept. It features the outstanding hinge, which technology is an Issey Miyake worldwide exclusivity.

This year, the models in the collection are mainly stainless steel _at-sheet styles in order to lighten the frame. The shapes are contemporary and edgy.

The women’s sunglasses feature hinges upgraded with a jewel-style decor that emphasizes the movement of the whole system, with translucid colors and gradient laminates of acetate.

The men’s sunglasses of “futuristic vintage” inspiration have a radical design line, of re_ned minimalism. They combine mineral tones brushed metal, and deep and intense acetates.

ISSEY MIYAKE eyewear is now available at selectively good optical and fashion boutiques only.
