The return of FEI YUE

Feiyue Shoes was born in Shanghai in the 1920’s. Feiyue is famous for its flexibility and comfort, essential requirements for Chinese martial arts.
After the stylish taiji exponents wore it during the Olympics' opening ceremony in August 2008, it bacame a must have for China's youth. These canvas sneakers - especially popular among students and athletes - were de rigueur daily wear in China up to the late 1980s. They were even regarded as "branded" items, and those who managed to snag a state issued coupon to buy a pair of Feiyue in the command economy were looked upon with envy.

Hollywood star Orlando Bloom was spotted wearing it earlier this year during a shoot of the movie New York, I Love You. Such Western "endorsements" have made these old Chinese sneakers cool again.

Now available in Tangs and selective retailers in Singapore and Malaysia.
