The Last Airbender is the big money adaptation of the first season of the TV cartoon series Avatar, which featured an odd but unique mix of fantasy and steampunk (think The Court of the Air, with more of a quest riff going on).
Shymalan seems to understand that cool martial arts should be shot with a wider angle and not with painful close-ups.

Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world.
